Azerbaijan and Croatia Enter a New Phase in Cultural Cooperation

On June 23–24, 2025, a delegation led by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, visited Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The visit was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia, aiming to expand cooperation in the fields of culture and creative industries, foster connections between business entities, and promote cooperative projects.

On June 24, Minister Adil Karimli held an official meeting with the Minister of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, Nina Obuljen Koržinek. During the meeting, they discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cultural relations. The Croatian Minister emphasized the successful development of cooperation between the two countries and expressed confidence that this visit would mark a new phase in their relations.

Adil Karimli thanked the hosts for their warm welcome, stating that the friendship established at the level of national leaders provides a solid foundation for the expansion of cultural cooperation. Both sides highlighted that the main goal of the visit was to contribute to the implementation of the agreements reached during the third session of the Azerbaijan–Croatia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, held in Baku on March 13, 2024.

As part of the visit, representatives of Azerbaijan’s audiovisual industry, led by Rəşad Əzizov, Director of the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, met with officials from Croatia’s Audiovisual Centre. They discussed cooperative film and media projects, experience and expert exchange, as well as possibilities for organizing training sessions and workshops.

In addition, a separate meeting was held with representatives of one of Croatia's leading production companies, “Zagreb Film.” Azerbaijan was represented at these meetings by industry figures including Oktai Yusibov, director of “Alove Animation” studio; Shahin Aliyev, representative of “Dynamic Box” LLC; Azar Aydemir, head of “Aydemir Entertainment”; and Elvin Abdulla, founder of the “Kinobox” online platform.
