The Film Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARKA), of the Ministry of Culture, announces a competition for film projects to be produced in 2023-2024. A presentation about the competition will be held on July 18. The purpose of the competition is to support creative people working in the field of national cinematography, to stimulate the activity of young directors working in this direction, as well as to bring new names to the cinema environment. Funds allocated by the state for film projects (5.5 million manats) will be allocated through competition. In connection with the competition, an artistic council was established, criteria and working mechanisms were defined. At the same time, work is underway to open four new institutions - an animation school, a screenwriter's course, a film actor's theater and technical improvement courses. It should be noted that 2023 is a significant year for Azerbaijani cinematography, which has deep-rooted traditions. This year is the 125th anniversary of Azerbaijani cinema, and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio named after Jafar Jabbarli. The establishment of the Republic of Azerbaijan Film Agency (ARKA) under the Ministry of Culture by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the determination of the current situation and development directions of this field, and the formation of a transparent and collegial management model are indicators of a systematic approach to national cinematography. In the new conditions, the Ministry, while playing a stimulating role in film production, tries to actively join local production companies in these processes. The purpose of the reforms carried out in this direction by the Ministry of Culture is the formation of transparent financial mechanisms, the support of creative business entities and the creation of a healthy, competitive cultural ecosystem in the country.
