“Qara pişik, ağ şanı” (“Black Cat, White Shani”), a documentary by director Alamdar Faig, has won the Best Director award at the UMUT International Documentary Film Festival.

The film is produced by Turkan Huseyn and Emil Najafov. Produced by Chinar Film, its post-production was carried out with the support of the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARKA), which operates under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The film explores profound psychological and social themes: the influence of the family on the individual, the mark that parents’ life paths leave on their children’s fate, and self-discovery.

The film had its world premiere at the Herceg Novi International Film Festival in Montenegro, one of the most prestigious and long-established film events in the Balkans. The Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan congratulates the film’s creative team.
